Aditi belongs to India and has been living in Singapore for the past 4 years now. Over her motherhood journey, she felt deeply responsible for doing her bit towards maintain a healthy & sustainable planet for the future generations. After struggling to find safe, organic and natural clothing, she decided to start her own brand Aavik Organic Clothing which offers 100% organic cotton, naturally dyed, chemical free, hand woven, hand spun & hand block printed fabrics. She consciously works with and supports small NGOs & communities of local artisans, weavers, farmers and underprivileged women.
Aditi brings to you the age old art of ‘block printing’ using incised wooden blocks, known to have been used since at least the 12th century, although this method is thought to be around 2,000 years old. These days, nearly everything we buy is mass produced and machine-made. It's difficult to imagine the days when garments were sewn by hand and the cloth was block printed.
Come and try this unique technique of hand printing and make your own self-designed cards, handkerchiefs and tote bags. See you there!
