Aches and pains while knitting? Feeling sore after all your crafting time? Having difficulty holding your yarn and needles pain-free but not sure what to do? Come join us for a class on knitting and ergonomics with Andrea Lui, PT, DPT. Andrea is an orthopedic physical therapist, and avid knitter/crocheter/spinner herself. The class will begin with an overview on correct and optimal ergonomics for crafting, and common posture pitfalls to avoid. We will also review simple stretches and exercises to keep your muscles and joints healthy and happy. This class will cover the entire body, and you will leave with new tools in your toolkit to keep your body healthy and happy as you craft. Bring a WIP to work on so that you can try out new postures and body adjustments in real time.

Instructor Bio

Andrea Lui is a board-certified clinical specialist in orthopedic physical therapy, a certified personal trainer, and a knitter, spinner, weaver, and occasional crocheter. As a physical therapist, she is passionate about patient education and empowering her patients to expand their knowledge of their bodies and help themselves. She began noticing there were very little resources available to knitters, crocheters, and crafters alike on how to take care of their bodies. This inspired her to put out short videos/reels with information on stretches, strengthening exercises, and tips on how to care for your body. You can find maker self-care reels on Instagram @theKnittingPT, or watch her YouTube knitting podcast as TheKnittingPT where she talks about projects and wellness tips.
