Basic Series - Introduction to Acid Dyeing
An introductory workshop on using acid dyes on wool yarnAbout this experience
In this taster workshop, you will get to learn Colour Theory, types of yarn and the various method of dyeing wool. Acid dyes are typically used for protein-based fibres or fibres from animal sources such as wool and silk. For this workshop, you will learn about how to use acid dyes and how different dye effects may be created eg. solids vs tonal. You will learn how to develop hues and tones with the primary colours and black to create shades. The acid dyes used for this workshop are low-impact acid dyes. All the dyes will be exhausted from the dye baths at the end of the dyeing process so no excess dyes are released into waterways.
For this workshop, you will bring home 200g of dyed yarn (10 mini skeins).
Lois is the independent dyer behind Parkour Kitties Fibres. A full-time dyer based in Singapore, Loisβs colourways are mainly inspired by nature and animations.
