Next Up Series - Knit My First Wearable
Always wanted to try knitting wearables that fit you? Join us for this series of 6 x 1.5h sessions that are designed to bring you through the whole process. Learn how to plan, start and complete a top that has a top-down construction. We will be going over the following processes:
- Knit a gauge swatch
- Figure out sizing and cast on
- Knit a yoke that fits
- Knit a length that fits
- Pick up stitches for sleeves and neckline
- Bind off using the i-cord method for a finished look
For this workshop, we will be using a generic pattern that fits over a wide range of sizes. Beginner knitters may choose to work in plain stockinette stitches for the body and adventurous knitters may choose to work a pattern in the body of the top.
The workshop fee does not include tools and supplies required for the knitted top. Participants would need to bring along your own tools and supplies. Suitable tools and supplies may be purchased from the studio if you do not have them already.
Size and Supplies required:
Knitting needle size: 4mm (32" circulars recommended; additional 16" circulars are optional)
Yarn: Double Knitting (DK) yarn recommended for a regular density of fabric; Fingering yarn for a light density fabric (for a more holey look). Yardage recommendations are based on DK weight yarn.
