WORKSHOP SERIES

YARN SPINNING ON DROP SPINDLE

Join us for an introduction to yarn spinning on a drop spindle over 2 sessions. You will learn about basic drafting and spinning techniques. Over the course of the 2 sessions, you will also learn about plying your spun singles into multi-ply yarn. Explore making your own blends of fibres using a blending board and hand carders. 

 

As part of the workshop series, you will get a kit to bring home with you that includes the following: a 4" Schacht Drop Spindle, two wooden bobbins, a selection of fibres to spin and a pouch to keep it all together!

PAPER MARBLING AND BOOKBINDING

Paper marbling and bookbinding are both traditional crafts that have withstood the test of time. Join us for a 2-session workshop where you will explore the amazing craft of paper marbling. Have loads of fun playing with floating paint on the marbling base and then capture the results on sheets of paper in the first session. In the second session, you will use the papers in binding your book. We will cover the Coptic stitching method that creates books that open completely flat. 

RIGID HEDDLE BOOTCAMP

We are organising a weaving bootcamp for beginners on the rigid heddle loom. Your workshop package includes a 15" Schacht Cricket Loom valued at $308 as well as a copy of the book - Inventive Weaving on a Little Loom - valued at $47. The Cricket Loom comes as a complete weaving package that includes warping tools as well as stick shuttles for weaving. It also comes with two balls of yarn as well as a pattern to get you started on your first project. The book covers many possible weaving techniques and projects on rigid heddle looms. It is a useful resource for all beginner weavers.

 

The weaving bootcamp will take place over a whole day. You will learn how to prepare the loom for weaving using the pattern and yarn included in your brand new loom. You will also complete weaving the project by the end of the session and learn how to finish a woven project. 

INKLE WEAVING BOOTCAMP

We are organising a weaving bootcamp for beginners on the inkle loom. Your workshop package includes a Schacht Inkle Loom valued at $144 as well as a copy of the book - Inkle Pattern Directory - valued at $57. The Schacht Inkle Loom comes with a belt shuttle that you will use for weaving. The book covers many possible weaving techniques and 400 projects on inkle looms. It is a useful resource for all beginner weavers on an inkle loom.

 

The weaving bootcamp will take place over a whole day. You will learn how to make string heddles that will be used to prepare your loom. You will learn how to prepare the loom for weaving using the pattern and yarn that is supplied for the workshop. You will also complete weaving the project by the end of the session and learn how to finish a woven project.
