About this experience
If you have been looking to learn needle tatting or looking for a new craft that is fun, portable and inexpensive, join us for this class.
For this introductory class, you will learn the basic double stitch and how to create lace patterns with rings, picots and chains. We will discuss how to read patterns, both pictorial and written patterns. You will use these skills to create little flowers, lace chains, butterflies and more. Use the tatted pieces as earrings, bracelets, trims and sew them onto a plain purse to dress it up! Decorate your tops and dresses with tatted trims to give them a different look.
Your class package includes a set of tatting needles, fine crochet hook, yarn and patterns to start you off on your tatting adventure!
Tatting is a traditional art of lace making. It may be done using tatting shuttles or tatting needles. Delicate lace designs are created using threads to form rings and chains. The fine lace may be used as trims for clothing and linens, table runners, doilies and decorations. Modern interpretations of the art sees many using it for jewelry, hair accessories and larger pieces as shawls etc.
