About this experience
Ever wanted to create your own tapestry? Join us for a fun session of weaving on a Schacht Easel Weaver. This fantastic loom is designed to be more than a frame loom. It is also a display frame, with specially designed support that flips out from the back so that you may display your weaving on a surface.
Tapestry is one of the oldest form of weaving. It served to decorate spaces as well as a way to record a piece of history. These days, decorative tapestry is still popular as it is a way to reflect a homeowner’s sense of style. The material used to complete the weaving may be connected to important memories such as fabric strips cut from an old blanket. The motifs or designs that are woven could have personal significance or a random creative inspiration.
For this workshop, you will go home with the complete Easel Weaver kit, that includes the 6" Easel Weaver frame, stick shuttle, plastic needle, wooden needle, mini beater and shed stick. This kit retails at $101. You can change out your woven piece when you wish to refresh your deco by completing another piece on the same frame for a completely different look!
Weaving may be done on many different types of looms. Frame looms are generally used to do tapestry weaving. The size of the woven tapestry depends on the size of the frame loom. Different sized tapestry pieces may be woven on the same frame loom.
