The One Stroke Bolero is designed to be knitted in one piece, starting from the neck band to end by binding off in the middle of the bolero. It is knitted as a large tube with a folded neck fold and arm holes for wearing the bolero. The pattern is designed to be an easy knit, suitable for knitters at all levels of skill comfort. Let this be a bring-along project when you are out and about or a project that you can work on while chilling at home. It can be a project that you brings accompanies you while you find your zen amongst other attention-seeking demands in life. 

This pattern is available as a free download and launched as a KAL that starts on 27 July 2022. Please read the information below to prepare your yarn, needles and notions to prepare for the KAL. The pattern will be sent to you via email when the KAL starts. For those who would like to cast on together, do join us for Community Night on 27 July.

YARN

  • Any yarn weight may be used.
  • Approximate yardage based on yarn weight for the sample bolero (1.2m wide; 76cm long); Bolero stretches to approximately 1.4m when worn as it stretches sideways quite a bit.
  • Use the lower yardage estimate for a shorter measurement.

FIngering weight: 1000 to 1400m

DK Weight: 800 to 1000m

Sport weight: 900m to 1200m

Worsted Weight: 600 to 700m


NEEDLES AND NOTIONS

  • Any size needle, as long as it works up ok with the yarn you are using. 
  • A pair of circular needles, at least 100 cm (40 inches) in length.
  • Suggested needle size for the different weight yarns:

Fingering weight: 3.5mm to 4.00mm

DK weight: 4.5mm to 5.00mm

Sport weight: 4.00mm to 4.5mm

Worsted weight: 5.0mm to 6.00mm

  • Stitch Markers: 1 for the Beginning of Round; 4 for marking the stitches for the neck fold (2 must be the lockable type)
