There is more to yarn spinning on a spinning wheel. Use one to ply yarn you already have in your stash to create new yarn. The regular motions of spinning on a spinning wheel is known to be a welcoming comfort activity for many.
In this 3-hour workshop, we will go over the general features of spinning wheels and how to operate one confidently. Depending on the number of wheels on display in the studio, you will have a chance to spin on the various models and figure out the wheel that is most suitable for spinning the type of yarn you would like to make. We are including a book - How to Spin, as well as a fibre box that consists of different fibres and blends for you to try spinning on the wheel.
We suggest that participants either have completed some spinning on drop or supported spindles before signing up for this workshop as it is easier to work on the spinning on a wheel after you are comfortable and able to draft the fibre with ease. For those who are keen to continue their spinning after the workshop, there are option to hire the use of the spinning wheels within the studio or to bring the wheels home on rental. Contact us to find out about usage and rental rates.
