Drop-In Weaving

Whether you are a new weaver or have some experience weaving, our drop-in weaving provides a hassle-free experience for individuals to work in varied and interesting colours and projects using pre-warped, ready-for-weaving looms. 

Two types of floor looms will be available for use for drop-in weaving arrangements. At the start of the session, participants will be given a short introduction / refresher on how the looms could be used. Participants have the option of bringing their own yarns or purchase yarns in the studio for use in the weaving. At the end of the session, the woven length of cloth will be removed from the loom. Knot tying is usually required to complete the project after it comes off the loom. We will demonstrate how it can be done. 

Types of Loom Available

• Two-Shaft Floor Loom
  (typically dressed with a two-colour warp, suitable for plain weave designs)
• Eight-Shaft Floor Loom
  (typically dressed with a single-colour solid warp, usually for a twill design)

A base fee of $25 is charged at the point of booking for the use of the loom and the studio for the day. Warp material fees are charged based on the length of the cloth woven during the session. Additional fees will apply if participants required extensive instructions or provision of weft materials. 

Fees

• Base fee - $25 for use of loom and studio for the day
  
• Warp material fees - $15 per metre for two-shaft loom and $30 per metre for multi-shaft loom
• Additional instructions - $15 per half-hour of instruction
• Weft materials : Varies
