Drop-In Weaving

Drop-In Weaving

Whether you are a new weaver or have some experience weaving, our drop-in weaving provides a hassle-free experience for individuals to work in varied and interesting colours and projects using pre-warped, ready-for-weaving looms.

Details

Four types of looms will be available for use for drop-in weaving arrangements. At the start of the session, participants will be given a short introduction / refresher on how the looms could be used.

At the end of the session, the woven length of cloth will be removed from the loom. Knot tying is usually required to complete the project after it comes off the loom. We will demonstrate how it can be done.

Materials and Tools Provided

Looms will be pre-dressed before the session.

  • Rigid heddle loom and two-shaft floor loom are typically dressed with a two-colour warp, suitable for plain weave.
  • Eight-shaft table loom and four-shaft floor loom are typically dressed with a single-colour solid warp, usually for a twill design.

If you need additional information on the warp width, colours or threading on the looms, please contact us before booking.

Weft yarn materials is NOT provided. Participants will need to provide their own materials for use in the weaving.
