Pick Up Patterns on a Rigid Heddle Loom
Pick Up Patterns on a Rigid Heddle Loom
This workshop introduces pickup pattern weaving on the rigid heddle loom for participants already familiar with plain weave. Using manual pickup techniques, participants learn how floats and pattern units can be formed beyond the standard heddle action, expanding the loom’s structural possibilities.
The session focuses on understanding how warp-float and weft-float patterns are created and controlled, and how these principles extend into textured structures such as honeycomb.
